College Advisory
TIF provides a comprehensive, four-year college advisory program designed to help students gain admission to their best-fit universities.
College advising is more than a process — it’s a transformative journey that begins in Grade 9 and culminates in admissions to programs aligned with each student’s learning style, career aspirations, and personal values. Rooted in our mission to deliver personalized, holistic education for life success, the program provides students with the tools, insights, and confidence to excel in an ever-shifting college admissions landscape.
Grade 9: Exploring Possibilities
Students are introduced to the fundamentals of the college admissions process through workshops on holistic review, selection criteria, and the importance of “fit.” They explore a diverse range of universities and reflect on their academic and professional aspirations through guided writing exercises. While uncommon at this stage, academically ambitious students may choose to self-study for and take Advanced Placement (AP) exams based on their university goals.
Grade 10: Laying the Foundation
Students begin crafting balanced college lists that match their academic interests, career goals, and learning preferences. With advisor guidance, they conduct research to identify programs that align with their strengths and ambitions. Advisors also provide targeted support on course selection and standardized testing requirements, ensuring students meet the prerequisites for their desired universities.
Grade 11: Preparing for Applications
Grade 11 marks a critical phase in the college admissions journey. Students refine their college lists with advisor input, focusing on majors, application deadlines, and program requirements. They engage with campus events or virtual presentations and submit reflective essays to deepen their understanding of potential programs. Advisors help students identify recommenders, plan testing schedules, and evaluate English proficiency examination requirements. By the end of the year, students are well-prepared to begin their applications with clear strategies and well-defined goals. Many students will self-study for and take AP and SAT exams during this academic year.
Grade 12: Finalizing and Applying
In Grade 12, students finalize their college lists, confirm countries of application, and ensure alignment with their academic and professional objectives. Weekly check-ins with advisors provide personalized feedback on essays and other application materials, keeping students on track with deadlines. As college decisions arrive, TIF celebrates each student’s achievements, recognizing the dedication and hard work behind their success. Advisors provide individualized support to help students navigate acceptance offers, financial aid decisions, and enrollment requirements, ensuring a smooth transition to their next academic chapter.
